Work With Me

Work with a Psychodynamic Therapist Online in the UK

Therapy is useful when you can start to see what is actually happening inside you, in real time, with someone who knows how to work with it.

How I Work

“Working with a psychodynamic therapist online gives you space to understand what’s really been driving your anxiety, shame, and recurring emotional patterns. Sessions help you slow down enough to notice what’s happening inside you, make sense of the deeper forces at play, and begin to move with more clarity, steadiness, and self-respect.”

I work in a psychodynamic and ISTDP-informed way. In practice, that means we focus on three things:

  • What you are feeling

  • What gets in the way of those feelings

  • How these patterns shape your life and relationships

This is steady, focused work. I don’t just listen and nod. I help you stay with what is emotionally relevant, especially when part of you wants to move away from it.

The aim is not to “fix” you. It’s to help your emotional system become more flexible, so you have more choice in how you respond to life.

What Sessions Are Like

People often imagine therapy as a calm conversation. Sometimes it is. Often it is more active, more focused, and more precise than that.

What matters is not how well you explain yourself, but what is happening in you as we talk.

Sessions often focus on:

  • The emotion underneath your words

  • The anxiety that appears when something important comes close

  • The ways you avoid, control, or disconnect

  • Feelings that have been kept out of awareness for a long time

  • The patterns that show up between us in the room

This is engaged, moment-to-moment work. I’m present and involved in the process.

Who I Work With

I work with adults across the UK who are dealing with:

  • Emotional avoidance and over-control

  • Shame and harsh self-criticism

  • Repeating relationship patterns

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Trauma responses and emotional shutdown

  • Feeling stuck or disconnected

  • Ongoing inner conflict

If you’re willing to look at what’s happening beneath the surface, this work often leads to real and lasting change.

How We Begin

Starting therapy doesn’t need to be dramatic or over-thought.

An initial session
We look at what’s bringing you, how your difficulties actually operate, and what kind of work may be helpful.

Beginning to work with the patterns
We start noticing what happens in you as we talk, your feelings, your anxiety, and your automatic ways of coping or avoiding.

Continuing the work
If it feels like a good fit, we continue at a pace that matches your emotional capacity, not pressure or expectation.

There is no obligation to continue beyond what feels useful and appropriate.

Confidentiality & Professional Standards

I’m a BACP-accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist. Sessions are confidential, held securely online, and grounded in recognised professional standards and over 4,000 hours of clinical experience.

Every session is an opportunity to:

  • Explore the feelings you’ve been avoiding

  • Understand recurring patterns in your relationships and inner life

  • Build the skills and courage to choose freedom over repetition

In practice, this work is usually continuous rather than episodic. Most people who start stay, and the therapy tends to develop over time rather than being a series of disconnected attempts. That isn’t because the work is easy. It’s because the structure is designed to hold when things get difficult.
